Do I need to point out the american evening AT's where maybe 1 or 2 guilds enter + a few auto forfeit guilds??
Not that I care for this change either way I have a set on one char but rarely wear them.

See, here's the chain of events that ArenaNet originally had in mind:
Make a PvE character -> Play through PvE campaigns -> Discover PvP -> Go to PvP -> Play in PvP with PvE character, get rank, emotes, guild -> Begin making new PvE characters for PvP to look cooler -> make PvP characters
All they are doing is making that last step easier. What you're suggesting is an entire restructuring of the system.
|
No, I am not suggesting that.
The restructuring already happened.
A PvP player can jump to the last step and completely disregard PvE.
Which is superb.
A PvE player needs to do PvP.
Which isn't nice.
And that is coming from a company that is completely and utterly aware that people did NOT move onto PvP, thus refusing to follow their plan AND they actually responded favorably to the player's refusal.

but what if I want a Tall Shield skin that is linked to Strength instead of Tactics in PvE? iirc the only existence of such a shield is a PvP only item.

Until the PvP rewards go from "upgrades" to "unlocks", I don't think I'll be purchasing any.

Step in the right direction, but still not enough. I think all armor and weapon skins should be unlocked from the start in PvP. That would cause plenty of PvE whine though so would never happen (even though it would improve the PvP product). Don't mind me though...I'm one of them so called radicals.

After reading some of the things said in this thread I'm a little surprised at the reactions. I really would not have expected a QQ thread from this. Some of you guys obviously have no idea how much work it takes to get enough RP's to unlock these skins. I'm sorry but the "PvE'ers deserve everything the PvP'ers get" argument is really stupid. Winning in PvE takes very little skill in comparison to winning in PvP.

To get enough rps you actually have to do well in AT/MAT/preds/etc to get enough RPs. I'm not sure about you, but I think doing well in those is much more difficult than perma sinning in UW.

Bull.
You don't know jack about what you're talking about. With very little effort I've personally made more than that in less than two months. So can anybody else, with a head full of more than fruit salad.
God forbid you actually have to work for somthing with equal effort for equal reward value. You have a bright future as a professional social assistance sponge with that attitude.
Carry on sponge boy.

I am just amazed at how childish everyone is.
"MUMMMMMMMMMMMMMY HE HAS AN ICECREAM AND I DON'T. WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA AAAAAAAA!"
Life is not fair. Live with it.
On a side note, PvE could have some new emotes for PvE emotes, but not the same ones as PvP emotes. PvP emote is for a specific PvP title.
Example:
In life (afk) you would get a gold medal for winning the 100m Olympic sprint. It would be inappropriate to award the same medal to a doctor for his altruistic work: not because he does not deserved recognition but because the gold medal for the 100m sprint is the wrong medal for the doctor's achievements.

It would take at the very least 1200 rps to actually be able to have Chaos Gloves, not 200.
I'm assuming you are talking about your XTH rewards, unless you have 3232527677735352424 accounts to predict on, I don't see you earning 1200 rps in "less than 2 months".
Nice try, carry on random whoru.

I've been having a hard time trying to come up with something witty or sarcastic to mention regarding this update, so I'll just say this:
I don't PvP, so I have nothing to complain about... unless the spectacles and the blindfold are possible to be dyed different colors...

Facing facts, half of the "appeal" of chaos gloves must be the mere value/"look how rich I am" factor. I'd be happy about it getting slashed, except, well, it really isn't. Actually earning them through RPs would probably take at least a year (tournament predictions counting 1200 RP total cost) unless you were doing fairly well in HA or ATs... which isn't something anyone can do. Getting started in that level of PvP requires quite some dedication these days.

If you're ok at the game you can make that in a couple of days instead of two months.

Slight correction - firstly you cannot transfer RPs between accounts and
IF you could.. assuming you have decent predictions you could get maybe 130 Rps in a month so youd only need 10 accounts to get in a month (or 5 accounts for 2 months).
I am not sure what the top guilds/most active AT guilds get for RP rewards these days, but Im sure they add up quickly over a month if they do a few ATs and a mAT

So how long does it really take to get the 1200 rps? And do you have to get the 1200 rps for another character too, or only the 200 for the actual gloves?
EDIT. Found it on the wiki: You need to purchase 50 pieces of Basic armor per account before you have access to Fancy armor.
So you need the 1000 rps to get access to fancy armor only once. After that it is 200 rps for the gloves for PvP players and 75 ectos and 10p for PvE players.

depends on how good/how often you play.

you have to unlock 1000 rps worth of basic armors before you can even have the chance to get chaos gloves, which are only 200rps.

It was just something that struck me as funny....that aside, however, your argument for the "1200" points is moot.
I'm assuming you paid for unlocking items up to the gloves. You spent those points already. The 200 point price is required for unlocking the gloves.

PvErs need ~375k to get chaos gloves. PvPers need 1200 RP's (equivalent of 1200k if they got zkeys and sold them for 5k each).
Why are PvErs complaining again? Because PvP characters can get shiny hands?

No, you need 1000rps once over all your characters on that account and then 200 rps per chaos gloves. PvE need 75 ectos and 10p per chaos gloves. I normaly get around 80 rps from the predictions. So after a year of guessing (not playing the game) I would have gotten that 1000 points investment for free. After that it is a new chaos glove every 2.5 month, which is equivalent to 200p, not 375.
